Join artists Linda Leslie Brown, Vaughn Sills, and Bonnie Sennott for a discussion surrounding their current exhibitions at Kingston Gallery, Circulations, Still, and Noise Antidote. They will explore how their artistic practices connect in terms of their respective realities, creating works that reflect how they each interpret the world around them.
Artist Bios
Linda Leslie Brown is a multidisciplinary artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she earned a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and an MA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Brown studied painting with Natalie Alper and ceramics with Bill Wyman and David Davidson. In addition to her artistic practice, Brown has had a distinguished career as an educator, serving as Tenured Professor and Foundation Studio Program Director at the New England School of Art & Design (NESAD) at Suffolk University.
Her work spans a range of mediums, including drawing, ceramic sculpture, installation, painting, and mixed media. Brown's work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, including Wheelock College (Boston, MA), AMP Gallery (Provincetown, MA), Popop Studios Gallery (Nassau, Bahamas), the Art Museum of the University of Houston (TX), the Center for Experimental Photographic Art (Buffalo, NY), The Gallery @ Green Street (Jamaica Plain, MA), and the Silvermine Arts Center (New Canaan, CT).
Vaughn Sills’ photography engages two primary, related concerns: the inner lives of people and our deep connection with the natural world. She has received awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (two Artist’s Fellowships in Photography, and twice a Finalist), Artadia Dialogue for Art and Culture, the Polaroid Foundation, the New England Foundation for the Arts, and the President’s Fund for Faculty Excellence from Simmons University.
Her photographs have been exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the Griffin Museum of Photography, the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, the Gibbes Museum in Charleston, SC, the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago, as well as botanic gardens and arboretums, including the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, DC, Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum in Boston, and the Botanic Garden at Cornell University.
Sills’ work is included in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the DeCordova Museum, the Harvard Art Museum, Simmons University, the Fidelity and Eaton Vance Collections, as well as numerous private collections.
She holds an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
Two books of Vaughn’s photographs have been published: Places for the Spirit: Traditional African American Gardens (Trinity University Press, 2010) and One Family (University of Georgia Press, 2001).
Bonnie Sennott is an artist based in Amherst, Massachusetts. She has exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions at notable venues, including the Center for the Arts in Northampton, the Easthampton Center for the Arts Gallery, Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke, and the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center in Vermont. A former member of Kingston Gallery, Sennott holds an MFA from the University of Chicago. Her work is part of private collections in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and beyond.
