Can art heal people and places? In 1892 a hospital opened in Medfield, the state’s first institution aimed at addressing mental health. It was the first state hospital designed in cottage-style (with multiple buildings on the campus instead of housing patients in cells) and the last one standing. Since its closure nearly two decades ago, the buildings and campus remain unoccupied and several inspiring art projects emerged on the site. Join us on a special outdoor tour of the campus to learn about these projects and consider their place and impact on this historic site.
The tour is about 45 minutes, geared towards adults, and welcomes hungry babies, crying babies, sleeping babies, and everything in between.
Please note that this tour is limited to a small number of participants and advance registration is recommended.
Parent Tours offers art and museum tours for parents to attend with their babies. For more information or a list of upcoming tours, visit ParentTours.com!
