The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation will hold its 20th Annual Army-Navy Football Luncheon fundraiser on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at the Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill in Woburn. Proceeds from the luncheon will support Massachusetts children of fallen and deployed troops this holiday season through Operation Santa-Massachusetts, a program created in partnership with the Military Friends Foundation. Tickets are available now at ahernfoundation.org.
As part of the luncheon, attendees of the event will watch the 124th Army-Navy Football game across dozens of widescreen HDTVs in the Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill. When they aren’t watching one of the oldest rivalries in American sports, guests will also enjoy a buffet lunch, raffles, and silent and live auctions.
Medal of Honor Recipient Tom Kelley will once again be at the luncheon. Tom is a retired captain of the United States Navy who received the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War. From 2003 to 2011, he served as Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services. In the past, Tom served as President of the Medal of Honor Society. He is co-author of “The Siren’s Call and Second Chances” with his wife Joan.
In addition, local media personalities, entertainers and business people join the event’s Honorary Host Committee and will be in attendance including Magic 106.7 Morning Host David O’Leary, WERS Morning Host George Knight, WBZ 1030 AM's Matt Phipps, WBZ Radio’s Drew Moholland, Boston Traffic Reporter Lori Grande, WHDH TV’s Kimberly Bookman, Chief Meteorologist for Boston 25 News Kevin Lemanowicz, Boston Comedian Dave Russo, and others.
The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation is a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization established in 2001 after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Through fundraising efforts, the foundation makes financial grants to military support organizations that provide services to veterans and current members of the U.S. military and their families.
The annual luncheon raises funds to support Operation Santa- Massachusetts through a partnership with the Military Friends Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to families associated with the Massachusetts National Guard and Reserve. Proceeds will be used to provide holiday gift cards to more than 100 children of deployed and fallen Massachusetts soldiers. To date the Army-Navy Football Luncheon fundraiser has raised more than $150,000.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 20th year of the Army-Navy Football Luncheon,” said Bob Ahern, President of The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation. “It’s extremely rewarding to give back to these military families during the holiday season as we continue this tradition.”
The 20th Annual Army-Navy Football Luncheon will take place December 9 at Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill located at 15 Middlesex Canal Park Dr, Woburn, MA 01801.
