The prevalence of youth mental illness is staggering. 20% of our children and adolescents hold a mental health diagnosis nationwide according to the CDC. Failure to detect and treat mental illness early can have a significant impact on a child's potential and success later in life. Parishioners and community members who participate in a KHMI education session will gain an understanding of the early warning signs of mental illness, common youth diagnoses and the barriers of stigma impacting our families. Franciscan Children's will provide an education session here at Our Lady of the Assumption on Thursday, October 3rd at 6:30pm. Please join us to learn about this crucial initiative and what steps we can take together to support youth and famiies who suffer from mental illness. Your attendance at this one session can make a tremendous difference. For any questions regarding the program please contact Franciscan Children's team at [email protected].
