Andover Choral Society to Perform “Peace” for Upcoming Winter 2025 Concert
The concert includes Haydn’s Mass in Time of War and Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem
ANDOVER, MA – The Andover Choral Society, directed by Matthew Buono, will present a concert entitled “Peace” on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill.
The concert will center around the theme of Peace through Haydn and Vaughan Williams’ music, both of whom were personally affected by the conflict of war and the desire for peace during their lives. For Haydn, Austria had been in a series of wars with revolutionary France in the late 18th century. Just over 100-years later Vaughan Williams and his native England found themselves recovering from the First World War while also preparing for the eventual Second World War in the early 20th century. Through this concert the society aims to offer a moment of peace for our community, even if for a short period of time.

The chorus typically performs two concerts per year, singing a repertoire that focuses on fine choral and choral-orchestral works from the Baroque era to the present day.
