Digital Illustration is all the craze these days, and is the basic requirement for anyone who wants to work in any field related to art or animation. But that aside, digital illustration is also a great tool for sketching out designs, laying out concepts, or even just as a pursuit of art for the sake of art.
Taught by a seasoned Digital Illustrator and Background Artist, in this Introductory course, students will go over the fundamentals of digital sketching, inking, and shading, using layers to keep track of their different elements. After a mid-class break, students will then be tasked with drawing a simple piece, with the instructor providing guidance and assistance as needed, and drawing the same drawing to demonstrate the process.
This is a remote learning class and will be held through Zoom.
Materials
Students will be expected to already own, or to purchase, an art tablet. It does not have to be an art tablet with a screen. Students will also have to download the free program Krita to their computers, available for Mac, PC, and most distributions of Linux. Tablet recommendations linked below, though any tablet of a similar species will do fine.
