Continuing the Spring 2023 Photography Lecture Series, the MassArt Graduate Programs and the department of Photography are pleased to welcome Alumni Panel: Brittany Marcoux, Julia Underdah, Caterina Maina, Kate Emerson & Derek Amengual. Please join us in the MassArt Kennedy 406 at 2pm EST on Tuesday, March 21.

Brittany Marcoux is a photographer and visual artist from Massachusetts. In 2016 she received her MFA in photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She has exhibited at the Danforth Art Museum in Framingham, MA, AS220 in Providence, RI, MassArt x SoWa and Nave Gallery in Boston, MA, The Newport Art Museum in Newport, RI, and The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO. Brittany is currently the Photography Department Equipment + Lab Manager at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Julia Underdah (b. 1999) is an artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. She has studied in the BFA Photography program at MassArt and will graduate in 2023 as a dual-major in sculpture and photography. Julia’s work has been featured in exhibitions at MassArt as well as at Panopticon Gallery in Boston, MA. She makes photographs that deal with control, performance, voyeurism, and power in order to consider how it feels to be in one’s body. Her three dimensional work is also concerned with the body, employing gravity, weight, and accumulation to manipulate the industrial materials she is attracted to.

Caterina Maina is a photographer and creative entrepreneur who works primarily with a 4x5 Large Format View Camera. Her photographs range from examining the close relationships between her family and friends to exploring the natural world and the connection one has to it through landscape and portraiture work. Her work delves into the power of human relationships and one's connectivity with their environment while exploring the tensions that exist in society today. Caterina has featured her work in local and national galleries, and has won awards and grants for her photographic work.

Derek Amengual is a New York based Director of Photography and Filmmaker. He graduated with a BFA in photography from MassArt in 2009. Derek has traveled the world working in documentary, narrative, fashion, and commercial projects with clients such as Kate Spade New York, Best Made Co, NYU, and the Tony Award winning non-profit Broadway Advocacy Coalition.

Kate Emerson is a New York based video editor. She graduated with a BFA in photography from MassArt in 2008. Kate's work has been published by TIME, The New Yorker, National Geographic and Magnum Foundation. She has edited films that premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and DOC NYC. Her work has been part of exhibitions at the International Center of Photography and Bronx Documentary Center.
