Souls of India presents Aikya - a Sanskrit word meaning union - portrays the harmony of different types of Indian art forms. The show gives you a taste of how traditional performances are performed all over India. The evening starts off with an invocation of the gurus - or teachers- of the dancers followed by traditional Indian classical dances namely Kathak and Bharatanatyam with live music. Then we present two of Rabindranath Tagore’s captivating musicals danced traditional Rabindranritya (Tagore’s style dance). We end the night with Kirtana – chanting of the Vedas. Join us for an evening of music, dance, and drama.
About Souls of India:
"Souls of India was founded by Samadrita Bhattacharyya and Meghma Banerjee. We are an Indian Creative Arts collaboration company and bring together freelance artists from different backgrounds ranging from but not limited to Indian classical and regional contemporary dance forms, live musicians, and painters. Our vision is to create a vibrant and diverse tapestry of unique and creative stage productions telling stories of Indian mythology, novels by Rabindranath Tagore and other Indian poets and playwrights, and recreating iconic folk tales from the region of Bengal (India) using Indian classical dance forms namely Kathak and Bharatanatyam, regional folk, and Bengali contemporary dance. We believe that our outlook has attracted a wider audience to foster a deeper appreciation for the richness and heritage of classical and regional art forms of India."
