The Afrika Gente Trio plays innovative, original arrangements of Afro-Latin jazz and Caribbean music. Band Leader, drummer, and percussionist Cornell Coley is an award-winning percussionist, dancer, recording artist, teacher and producer. To learn move, visit his website. Bassist Daniel Day, born in Suriname, South America, is an “in-demand” bassist, recording artist, and musician’s musician based in Roxbury’s Nubian Square from where he plays throughout New England, the United States and the world. Pianist and composer Michael Shea has been a longtime presence in New England’s music community, where he’s performed and toured with the Artie Shaw Band, the Either Orchestra, the Two Worlds Orchestra, and this trio.
This performance is part of Boston Public Library's Concerts in the Courtyard Series sponsored by Bank of America. Registration is not required but seating is first come, first served. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors.
