In the past year Babson as well as campuses around the nation engaged in essential conversations about pressing issues surrounding equality, justice, accountability and support. Those raw discussions spawned a sense of new understanding for some and action in others. Though some progress has been made there is still much more work to be done and in light of a crucial election year, important conversations that break down cultural barriers and encourage collaboration for change is imperative in our society today.
We will be discussing topics ranging from Race, Gender, Sexuality, and Immigration.
Mission: The mission of this forum is to engage in candid dialogue, deepen an understanding of breaking down cultural barriers, and apply entrepreneurial thinking in how business leaders can take action in solving some of today’s most pressing diversity and inclusion issues.
Vision: The vision of the diversity forum is to promote cultural consciousness, competence, and coalescence.
Babson Alumni, Students, Faculty, Administration, and Staff are welcome. This event is open to our greater Boston Community. Everyone can attend.

Speakers and Panels
Jennifer Gilhool (Keynote Speaker) founder and CEO of Gender Economics Lab as well as Pink Streak Ink. At Pink Streak Ink, she manages an international speaking and consulting business and is an Amazon bestseller author. The Gender Economics Lab is a state-of-the-art interactive learning platform that helps companies create inclusive and empowering work environments capable of unlocking the power of diversity to optimize business results.

Opening Remarks - Larry Ward, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

Panel 1 - Widening Wage Gap: Equal Pay For Whom? (Panelists Jane Edmonds, Kaden Mohamed, Alyssa Wright, moderator TBD)
With more women becoming breadwinners and rising up in senior leadership roles, where is the pay to back this up and if you’re a woman of color and even a trans woman you’re left even further behind in this debate. Lastly, why are millennials who are the largest and most educated generation in the most debt and have a lack of proper pay. During this panel of exceptional leaders, we plan to discuss where the fight for equal pay is heading and what still needs to be done.

Panel 2 - LGBTQ* 2:0 Working Through Definitions (Lauryn McNair, Mark Gagliardi to moderate, Brett Chin, Kaelin Rines)
How does one’s biases affect how they treat and talk to other groups. How are you utilizing pronouns in the office when discussing someone who is trans? What biases lie in today’s society based on sexual orientation or gender identity and are businesses today not facilitating an understanding culture? Are we just standing by and letting these biases occur or are we standing up? This diverse range of panelists will discuss the many dilemmas of being LGBTQ in today’s workforce.

Panel 3 - The American Daze: Why Immigrants Are Powering the U.S. Economy (Panelists Tolu Olubunmi, Denzil Mohammed, Sarah Goodyear, Christine Mahoney as moderator)
From Brexit to the U.S. election there has been great talk and extreme biases about immigrants, migrants, and refugees. However, who qualifies as an “immigrant” or any of these titles and do these ill-conceived biases ignore the great contributions that these groups have made in our society? During this panel you’ll be able to hear awe-inspiring narratives from a mix of thought-provoking leaders directly tied to these topics and gain an economic understanding on immigration in the U.S.

Panel 4 - Black Lives Matter And Why Companies Should Care (Panelists Brandale Randolph, Nena Ugwuomo, Professor Kevin Bruyneel, Lt. Erin Carcia, Professor Fred Opie as moderator)
The past few years and weeks have been especially unsettling for the Black community with unjust deaths, police brutality, ongoing discrimination, and institutionalized racism. Millennial youth of color are leading the forefront with demanding the need for new policies and leadership and now businesses have the opportunity to step up in the movement. This panel will discuss just what that means and how companies can promote a culture for true inclusivity and equality.

Diversity Case Session - How Do Entrepreneurs Change A Culture or Start Their Own: What Would You Do? (Led by Professor Adam Sulkowski and Professor Angela Randolph)
Case Study How Do Entrepreneurs Change A Culture or Start Their Own: What Would You Do? - Interactive session with Babson Professors discussing a current case study (being written) centered various diverse protagonists.
