Description:
We’ll be bagging two 4,000 footers in the Adirondack High Peaks Region, Phelps and Tabletop Mountains. Phelps Mountain is 4,160 ft., while Tabletop Mountain is 4,413 ft. We’ll be arriving at the trailhead at the Adirondack Loj, hike 2 miles on Friday to the Marcy Dam which offers lean to’s and tent sites. We’ll camp out at the Marcy Dam overnight and get an early start well before sunrise, with hopes of being able to reach the summit of Phelps before sunrise. We’ll enjoy the sunrise on Phelps Mountain before descending and continuing our hike. We’ll make a brief excursion to Indian Falls before ascending Tabletop Mountain. The plan after will be coming back the same way towards the Marcy Dam where we’re camping at. Bring a change of clothes since we’ll most likely have a lot of time to jump into the stream and cool off with great panoramic views around you. We’ll then sleep again early at the Marcy Dam, then hope to get to Colden before sunrise. We’ll head back to the Marcy Dam afterwards, pack up, hike back to the Adirondack Loj and head back to Boston.
