ACE Mentor Program of Greater Boston is holding their 9th Annual Networking Event this Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 hosted at the Artists For Humanity EpiCenter. ACE Mentor Program is a free after-school program designed to encourage high school students to pursue careers in the architecture, construction and engineering industries, run by experts in the field.
This year’s event welcomes the guest speaker Lauren E. Jones, Secretary of Labor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Secretary Jones has more than 17 years of experience working in local and state government, non-profits, and the private sector, with a particular focus on workforce development.
ACE grants the largest amount in their scholarship program since inception this year. The total reached $210,000, distributed to 30 dedicated high school seniors graduating in the class of 2023. The scholarships, varying from $1,000 to $20,000, awarded to participating students will support their college, university, or trade school education in these fields. About ACE Mentor Program of Greater Boston
ACE of Greater Boston was launched in 2007 and is one of 70-plus affiliates under the ACE national umbrella. Through practical, project-based, hands-on explorations, students work collaboratively and creatively to design innovative solutions to real world problems. With professional guidance by esteemed industry mentors who are full-time employees of construction, design and engineering firms, students embark on a five-month design project, through weekly sessions after school, to develop the professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration that the industry requires. During this time, the students construct a hypothetical project in order to learn about each discipline and take part in activities such as site visits, Revit training and trade day.
