Join us for a special matinee at the Lyric Stage, featuring French playwright Yasmina Reza’s internationally acclaimed play Art, in partnership with The French Theater Project.
We will gather at the French Library at 1:30 PM, where David Miller, founder of The French Theater Project, will provide an introduction to the play, offering insights into its themes, history, and cultural significance. From there, we will walk together (just two blocks away) to the Lyric Stage, where we will attend the 3:00 PM performance.
After the play, we will stay for a special Q&A session with the production's director, Courtney O’Connor, offering a unique opportunity to explore the creative process behind this award-winning work.
About the Play: Art is a witty and thought-provoking comedy that explores friendship, art, and personal values. When Serge purchases an all-white modern painting for an extravagant sum, his friendship with Marc and Yvan is put to the test. What starts as a debate over aesthetics soon escalates into a hilarious and poignant exploration of loyalty, ego, and the meaning of art itself.
Art has won multiple prestigious awards, including the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play, the 1997 Olivier Award for Best Comedy, and the 1995 Molière Award for Best Commercial Production.
Special Ticket Offer: Thanks to our partnership with the Lyric Stage, all French Library members and friends can purchase tickets for just $50 using the code REZA50 at checkout.
