One of the surprising rediscoveries revealed Historic New England’s exhibition 'Artful Stories' is the richly colored portrait of a red-haired beauty painted by England’s Marie Spartali Stillman.
Stillman experts Kristen Shepherd (Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida) and Margaretta Frederick (Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington) explore how this project epitomizes the artist’s globe-trotting life.
"Artful Stories" co-curators Nancy Carlisle and Peter Trippi welcome these guests and connect their insights to other aspects of the exhibition and additional works in the collections of Historic New England.
