Contrast and contradiction, the opposing forces of light and dark, have long captured our imagination. The Chameleon Arts Ensemble resumes its 2018-2019 chamber music season with a program that bridges the gap titled “a play of light and shadow.” Mozart sets the stage with his sparkling and elegant Kegelstatt Trio for clarinet, viola, and piano. Thea Musgrave peeks inside Edward Hopper’s illuminated interiors with Night Windows for oboe and piano, and Kristin Kuster pays tribute to the great Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Olivier Messiaen falls under the spell of the blackbird in Le Merle Noir for flute and piano, while Fauré’s c minor Piano Quartet charms us with salon sensibility, bathed in color and light.
Tickets are $47, $36 or $25 with $5 off for students and seniors. Performances take place on Saturday, March 2 at 8 PM and Sunday, March 3 at 4 PM at First Church in Boston. For more information or to order tickets, please call 617-427-8200 or visit http://www.chameleonarts.org.
