Born into a conservative Jewish family, Sheila Turner-Seed left the safety of her home to become a daring, world-traveling journalist. She died suddenly of a brain aneurysm when her daughter Rachel was just 18 months old. Thirty years after her death, Rachel attempts to piece together a portrait of the mother she never knew. Uncovering her mother’s vast archive of photographs and over 50 hours of interviews with iconic photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Gordon Parks, and Roman Vishniac, Rachel goes on a journey that explores memory, legacy, and stories left untold.
Followed by a conversation with filmmakers Rachel Elizabeth Seed and Maya Erdelyi (Anyuka), moderated by Dr. Betsy More, Director of Programs at the Jewish Women’s Archive.
