Grammy-Nominated chamber orchestra A Far Cry perform music inspired by life in the city streets by Boccherini, Monteverdi, and Tchaikovsky at NEC’s Jordan Hall.
“The street is a hugely vibrant part of life, especially for us living in the city. The action starts with the Monteverdi, where drama ensues from the main characters simply passing each other on the street. Before that Boccherini sets the mood, depicting beautiful sojourns to church, street singers, soldiers; all different walks of life are together in one work, evoking the bustling nightlife of 19th century Madrid. Tchaikovsky evokes similar feelings, complete with a balcony scene a la Romeo and Juliet in the second movement. Spend an evening of musical storytelling with A Far Cry around what can happen when you walk out your front door!
