First off, check out our top 14 picks for 2019 Valentine's, Galentine's, and/or Anti-Valentine's events around Boston. Next, have a look below at our guide to unique date ideas in Boston. Wishing you the best Bumble date ever ❤️.
1) Delish & Cheap Bites:
They say food is the way to the heart. Sometimes good ol’ dinner dates are a better bet than that potentially dope underground art show you discovered on The Boston Calendar. Here are five cheap but delicious date spots to bring your S.O. (or tinder date)...
— Cheap date night at Myers+Chang: Every Monday and Tuesday night, Myers+Chang offers 3 fixed menus for $45 each. Designed to be a full dinner for two people.
— Anchovies: Strong booze and good food. Also awarded Best of Boston 2010. And not pretentious at all. Need we say more?
— Lone Star: The best date night is one that involves tacos & margs. Lone Star beats every Tex-Mex restaurant in the city with their reasonably-priced homemade tacos.
— Estragon Tapas: Every Monday through Thursday, Estragon offers a "Tapas Blitz Happy Hour," featuring ridiculously cheap tapas -- like $3 for a Spanish omelet cheap.
— Fiesta Brunch at Masa: One of the South End's best bargains. The two-course brunch prix fixe costs just $9.95 per person.
2) Sporty Dates:
Throwing an activity into your date is always a great way to break up those awkward silences…
— Bowling at Flatbread: ☑ New England’s signature candlepin bowling, ☑ organic wood-fired flatbreads, ☑ tasty drinks.
— Rock climbing at Brooklyn Boulders in Somerville: Urban rock climbing space that merges fitness with art & music. Hop over to Aeronaut after your climbing sesh for a few beers.
— Ice Skating: There are plenty of places to go outdoor ice skating around Boston, and best of all, they're all cheap. Afterwards, warm up over a drink at a bar near the rink.
3) Museums/Art Galleries:
— MFA Wednesdays: The MFA offers a donation-based admission every Wednesday after 4pm. Don't miss "Drawing in the Galleries" and "Dancing in the Galleries," two programs conveniently offered by the MFA every Wednesday as well.
— ICA Free Thursdays: And look at that, Valentine's Day 2019 falls on a Thursday. While you’re at it, fire up your Instagram at the "William Forsythe: Choreographic Objects" exhibit before it’s gone for good on Feb 21st.
4) Learn Something Together:
— Try a Sesh: Our experiential classrooms platform, sesh, is a great place to pick up on some new skills while bonding over a drink. Learn to make (and drink) 3 craft cocktails at Bully Boy Distillers, or learn to fold (and eat) two types of traditional dumplings at Patty Chen’s dumpling making class.
5) One-buck (or 50¢) Shucks:
If your S.O. loves to slurp on fresh oysters as much as you probably do, take them to get some cheap shucks (duh)...
— The Red House: The Red House features 2 for $1 oysters every day from 12-5pm & 9pm-close. Everyone's first dozen oysters are priced at 2 for $1; after that oysters are just $1 each -- still a great deal!
— La Brasa: Every day from 5-6pm, La Brasa features the freshest oysters east of the Mississippi for just $1 each.
— Bisq: $1 oysters every Tuesday through Thursday night while supplies last. Enjoy their unique offerings of wine, small plates & charcuterie while you’re at it.
— Puritan & Co.: $1 oysters every Tuesday until they run out. Puritan & Co. is an "urban cafe serving modern American cuisine & traditional New England dishes for dinner & brunch."
— Russel House Tavern: Every day after 11pm. Late night oysters, anyone?
6) Look at the Stars:
— Stargazing: Nature never fails us. Observe the night sky together through telescopes and binoculars and pretend you know exactly where the Big Dipper is to impress your partner.
7) Live Music:
Stalk your partner’s Spotify playlist and find out what they like, because here's some live music worth checking out...
— Boston Park Plaza’s Live in the Library: Every Thursday night, Boston Park Plaza hosts FREE live music in the "Library" (located just off the main lobby). Enjoy some of the area's best local artists while sipping on cocktails next to the fireplace.
— Lucky Lounge: Sinatra-themed lounge dishing up comfort food and cocktail classics to hipsters and locals alike. "Every day is live music day at Lucky Lounge."
— Traditional Irish Music Sessions at The Druid: Join the Druid every Tuesday at 9pm and Saturday afternoon at 4pm for a traditional Irish music sesh.
