Whether you've been a Boston local for years or are new to the city, you may not know about some of Beacon Hill's best hidden gems. We've curated a list of hidden restaurants, rooftop bars, and sights to see in one of Boston's most historic (and hilly!) neighborhoods:

1) The Hidden Art Gallery

The Hidden Art Gallery is in a historical place on Myrtle Street in Beacon Hill, Boston, MA. Its collection focuses on local artists, which include cityscapes of Boston, realist paintings, sail ships, impressionist and abstract works.

The gallery offers art talks, exhibitions, watercolor & drawing classes, and exploration with meditation and watercolor.

2) Beacon Hill Books & Cafe

Beacon Hill Books & Cafe is Boston’s newest hangout around the corner, where a lovingly curated selection of reads meets a warm atmosphere, pop-ups and literary events, and a full-range menu of locally sourced fare. This shop is our love letter to Boston.

A spot to gather, discover, learn, and most of all, have fun. A spot for afternoon tea with friends, or where a solo adventurer can relax with a book and a bite. It takes a village to open a bookstore, and a community to make it thrive.

3) Free State House Tours

The Massachusetts State House, designed by Charles Bulfinch, the leading architect of his time, is a grand repository of history as well as an architectural treasure. With a cornerstone laid by Samuel Adams in 1795, and a dome coppered by Paul Revere in 1802, its marble-floored corridors and spacious ceremonial rooms are filled with works of art depicting our state’s unique heritage.

Docents offer free walking tours of the building and collections from 10:00am — 3:30pm. Tours of the interior are free and last approximately 40 minutes. All visitors will be screened by security. The entrance to the building is via the General Hooker Entrance which is on Beacon Street at the top of Park Street. Walk past the statue of General Hooker up the stairs and through security. Accessible entrance is located on Bowdoin Street.

4) Beacon Hill Hotel Rooftop

The Beacon Hill Hotel offers a chic dining experience to match our globally sourced design aesthetic. Whether you are enjoying a cocktail at our intimate bar or three-course meal prepared by our expert culinary team, our newly renovated space in the heart of Beacon Hill is excited to welcome guests back.

Grab a cocktail on our open-air roof deck; experience a world-class culinary experience in our dining room; or just relax in one of our curated guest rooms.

The rooftop is open from 4:30pm - 8:30pm in the summer months.
