Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is an official sponsor (the only hotel sponsor) for the 38th Annual Boston Film Festival, one of America’s longest running and industry recognized events for films. The festival is taking place across multiple locations from September 22-26 and will showcase cutting edge indie films, top documentaries, shorts, animated, fall release studio films and a newly created sports category.
Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is rooted in the creative arts, paying homage to Boston’s rich history of visual and performing arts, technological innovation, and unrivaled academic tradition. As an official host for the annual Boston Film Festival, Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is tapping into its creative arts background to host an idyllic setting for the world premiere of “The Wind & the Reckoning”, a true story indie filmed based upon the memoirs of Pi’ilani, a Native Hawaiian freedom fighter whose husband Ko’olau, single handedly challenged the foreign occupational forces that overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom, on September 24th at 6:30pm. Tickets for the in-person premiere are $12 and Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport will be offering discounted room rates as part of its sponsorship.
Following the world premiere, a cultural ceremony presented by a Native Hawaiian delegation led by Leon Siu, Secretary of State for the Hawaiian Kingdom will take place at Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport. Also in attendance, “The Wind & the Reckoning” screenwriter John Fusco, the film’s leading actors, Jason Scott Lee, Lindsay Anuhea Watson, Henry Ian Cusick, and the film’s Director David L. Cunningham as well as Producer Dale Armin Johnson. In addition, a delegation of Native American elders representing tribes of the New England region will attend.
