1647 will host its third annual Family Engagement Summer Institute virtually this year from Tuesday, August 11 – Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The Institute offers school leadership teams the opportunity to plan, design, and construct their family engagement strategies for the 2020-21 school year.
This two-day seminar aims to help build a network of schools in the region that are committed to high-quality family engagement as a strategy for student success. Teams of 2-5 people will learn from families and educators and work with their coaches to create plans that respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and the movement for racial justice and equity.
The Institute will include workshops, work time for teams, and cross-school sessions on the following themes: family engagement in the age of COVID-19, research-based family engagement frameworks and practices, looking at family engagement through the lenses of race, equity, and bias, strategies for home-school communication, and planning for and moving to action at your school.
