On Sunday, April 20, 2025, 1,000 military personnel, first responders, and civilians from across the country will gather before dawn to honor their fallen comrades as part of the 2025 Tough Ruck held in partnership with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) and the Boston Marathon. Participants will “ruck” 26.2 miles along the paths of the Revolutionary War, many in full military gear, including their rucksacks that weigh as much as 35 pounds on their backs. Tough Ruck raises funds for the Military Friends Foundation, a nonprofit that supports local service members and families of the fallen in times of need. The B.A.A. awards each Tough Ruck finisher an official Boston Marathon medallion. Finish line festivities include food vendors and kid-friendly activities. More information about the event is available at www.toughruck.org.
