Huffington Post co-founder Arianna Huffington will discuss"From TV to Tablet: Is the Digital Frontier Making Journalism Better?" at the ninth annual Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism at Tufts University on Wednesday, April 16, at 12 p.m. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Cohen Auditorium on Tufts University's Medford/Somerville campus. Huffington will also be at the Tufts bookstore at 46 Professors Row from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. to sign her most recent book, Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder.
Huffington serves as the chair, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, which was launched in 2005. The Huffington Post is one of the most widely-read, linked to, and frequently cited media brands on the Internet.
A nationally syndicated columnist and the author of 14 books, Huffington has repeatedly been ranked among the world’s most influential people by media such as "Forbes," Time" and the "Financial Times."
Huffington is known for her expertise on new media, economics and current affairs and has appeared on numerous television shows including "Charlie Rose," "Nightline, "Good Morning America," "Today", "Squawk Box," "The Colbert Report" and "The O’Reilly Factor".
The Murrow Forum will begin with an interview of Huffington by Jonathan M. Tisch, co-chair of the board of Loews Corporation and chairman of Loews Hotels. A graduate of Tufts and vice chair of the Tufts Board of Trustees, Tisch hosts the Emmy award winning television program "Beyond the Boardroom with Jonathan Tisch." The forum will end with an opportunity for the audience to ask Huffington about her career.
Originally from Greece, Huffington moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in economics.
She serves on several boards, including EL PAÍS, PRISA, the Center for Public Integrity and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
The forum is sponsored by Tufts University's Communications and Media Studies Program at the School of Arts and Sciences, the Edward R. Murrow Center of Public Diplomacy at The Fletcher School, and Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service.
Previous featured speakers at the Murrow Forum include Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Christiane Amanpour, Ted Koppel, Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather and Chris Matthews.
