The term "superfood" appeared in our lexicon in the early 2000's, and since then, foods from chia seeds to bone broth have been revered as "superfoods." But what does that really mean and what's so super about these foods anyway?
During this Sip & Learn, you'll learn what it takes for something to be labeled a "superfood"(spoiler alert: this is a totally subjective label not used by most scientists, doctors or nutritionists) and also why, despite the vagueness of the term, a lot of superfoods are nutritional powerhouses worth incorporating in your diet. Founder Heather Stevenson will discuss the specific health benefits of a number of readily available superfoods including maca, chia seeds, hemp seeds, spirulina, goji berries, and wheatgrass. She'll also introduce you to a few less well known but equally noteworthy superfoods including chaga, cordyceps, and mesquite. From better sleep, to better digestion, these foods provide myriad benefits worth knowing about. Finally, you'll try some easy-to-make make food and drinks that incorporate superfoods. You'll also receive a copy of all of the recipes for the foods you try, so that you can make them at home.
Sip & Learn is an ongoing educational series brought to you by Thirst Juice Co., covering health and wellness topics relevant to our community.
