The Hong Kong Harvard Square cordially invites you to join them for their 60th Birthday Party Celebration. On Sunday, August 17th from 6pm – 10pm, Massachusetts Avenue in front of the Hong Kong (1238 Massachusetts Avenue) will be transformed into a street festival complete with a beer garden, DJ, dancing and the delicious food that the Hong Kong has been serving for decades.
The pageantry begins at 5:45pm in the Pit (in front of Cambridge Savings Bank, 1374 Massachusetts Avenue) with the always festive and colorful Wah Lum Kung Fu performing a tradition Dragon and Lion Dance. Immediately following, they will lead a lively street procession through Harvard Square to the Hong Kong, where birthday cake, beer, music, dancing and Asian delicacies await you.
The Hong Kong Restaurant was established in 1954 by Jimmy (Sen) Lee and Mary (Buoy) Lee and is truly a family business. Today, the restaurant is run by their children Evelyn and Paul while Mary oversees the operations. The Restaurant began with a single dining room on the first floor. Major changes began in 1970, when the restaurant expanded to include the three floors that it occupies today. The Hong Kong Restaurant is a full-service establishment with a full dining room on the first floor, a lounge on the second floor and a dance floor on the third floor. In addition, The Hong Kong hosts The Comedy Studio six nights a week.
The Hong Kong Harvard Square’s 60th Birthday Party Street Festival is sponsored by Yuengling Brewery, Sierra Nevada Brewery and Coca Cola. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Cambridge Mayor’s Fire Relief Fund.
