James Whale’s high-camp follow-up to his own Frankenstein finds the misguided Doctor F. teaming up with the even-less-grounded Doctor Pretorius to give the creature what it demands – a mate! In a rare case where a sequel equals – or even exceeds – the original, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN benefits from being an all-new story, largely divorced from Shelley’s novel.


Introduced by Sarah Hamblin, director of the Cinema Studies program at UMass Boston.


This event is free and open to the public. Passes are not required, and seating is first-come, first-sat. Elements of Cinema is a free monthly screening & discussion series presented by the Brattle Film Foundation.
