Join the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, and Meejin Yoon and Eric Höweler of Höweler + Yoon Architecture, for the official debut of “Swing Time”, the highly anticipated interactive playscape at The Lawn on D, Boston’s first-of-its-kind new experimental outdoor space at the epicenter of the Innovation District and South Boston neighborhoods.
Commissioned by the MCCA to create a piece reflecting the community and experimental philosophy of The Lawn on D, Höweler and Yoon conceived Swing Time to encourage users to interact with the swings and with each other. Swing Time is composed of multiple illuminated, ring-shaped swings, each of which holds an internal LED lighting system, micro-controller and accelerometer that symbiotically create colorful glowing effects generated by the motion and acceleration of the swings.
Boston artists, designers, innovative tastemakers, public and community supporters of the visual arts from the Boston area are invited to this special evening of festivities that will also feature:
> A “Swing Time” cocktail created to celebrate the debut of the interactive swings
> Live swing music band provided by Dan Gabel and The Abletones
> Make Music Boston presentation of a musical performance from Nemes
> Interactive art exhibits
> Bocce, Ping-Pong and Cornhole Games
> Food and beverage from local artisan food trucks
