The project began as a reaction to the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings and the journey to finding closure and strength in a time of trauma. Through a series of interviews with victims and first responders, a piece of documentary theatre was produced. Set in a subway car, the characters recall their experiences from the Boston Marathon and reveal hopeful futures.
STRONG: The Boston Marathon Project is conceived by Paige Monopoli (Suffolk '15) and Alexa Costa (Suffolk '15) and is comprised of a company of student-actors from Suffolk University also featuring alumni Brian Bernhard (Suffolk ’14). Alumni Erica LeBlanc (Suffolk ’14) stage manages the production and has provided major connections to many of the interviewees and the Boston OneFund. The light and sound will be designed by Scott Mckenney (Suffolk '15) and Steve McIntosh, Suffolk University Theatre Department staff.
