The City of Quincy and the Quincy Art Association are proud to announce that the weekend of September 19th and 20th will be the 18th annual Quincy ArtsFest.

For one weekend each year, the ArtsFest transforms the grounds of Merrymount Park into an artistic hub complete with artwork, live entertainment, crafters and children's activities that has become an autumn highlight for many Quincy families.

“We are fortunate to have such passionate citizens taking an active role in their community promoting the arts” states Mayor Thomas P. Koch. “Doing so is incredibly important, especially in this day and age.”?

For the first time in 18 years, ArtsFest will be moving from the grounds of the Richard J. Koch Park and Recreation Complex over to beautiful Adams Field. The historic baseball field will transform from an athletic field into a gorgeous center for the arts.

As ArtsFest moves to a larger location, the City of Quincy and Quincy Art Association were able to expand the event in a special way for the 18th year. On Saturday night, the Quincy Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert under the lights at Adams Field. Concert goers are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the field with friends and family. The bleachers will also be accessible to all spectators. The concert will begin at 7pm, and all art will be able to be viewed before, during, and after the concert.

"We are excited about participating in the ArtsFest and look forward to it very much,” says symphony conductor Yoichi Udagawa. “We've put together a program of gorgeous classical music as well as much beloved selections from Broadway and the movies, and coupled with the setting, we think this will be a spectacular night for the arts.”?

Sponsored by the Quincy Art Association and the Quincy Park & Recreation Departments, ArtsFest features a Juried Art show, Juried Photography show, Quincy Art Association Members' show and a Young Artists' show. Last year’s show displayed over four hundred entries from some of the finest artists across the South Shore and Greater Boston area.

Along with incredible art work, Quincy ArtsFest includes a variety of live entertainment by exceptionally talented performers. This year, the ArtsFest live entertainment includes performances ranging from magic shows and caricature artists, to traditional Chinese dance and professional bands. The entertainment schedule will be posted once all acts are confirmed.

Please join the City of Quincy in celebrating this spectacular event this weekend, Saturday September 19th from 10 AM – 5 PM and Sunday September 20th from 10 AM – 4 PM. For more information please contact the Quincy Park Department at 617-376-1251.
