Comics are where language and images meet, and independent comics explore the full potential of that medium: fiction, action, memoir, history, humor and more. During MICE, hundreds of indie comics artists and small press publishers exhibit their creations, and thousands of attendees from the Greater Boston area turn out to meet them.
MICE has grown steadily in size and scope since its beginnings in 2010, always maintaining free admission to the public. As of 2013, the show has expanded from a single day to a full weekend, doubling our list of workshops and programming events. Students, families, educators, and art enthusiasts alike return to this event year after year to connect with this vital local arts scene.
As part of our mission, MICE fosters a friendly and creative environment for its attendees and features:
FREE ADMISSION By making admission free to the general public, MICE seeks to expand the
audience for independent comics, turning curious newcomers into confirmed fans.
OVER 150 EXHIBITORS With an abundance of local artists and writers, the personal contact between the creators and the public is key to the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the show.
SPECIAL GUESTS MICE is proud to spotlight established comics artists from inside and outside the
Boston region. MICE 2015 welcomes celebrated cartoonists Lucy Knisley, Ryan North, Sam Bosma, Dustin Harbin, Jennifer Hayden, and Gene Yang (Sunday).
