On June 21st, the City of Boston will come alive with music for the first-ever Make Music Boston. Based on the French La Fête de la Musique, Boston joins more than 720 cities across the globe for a summer solstice festival dedicated to music and sound. Led by Maria Finkelmeier and August Noise JP, the Make Music Boston team is taking the grass-roots approach - aiming to empower musicians to perform for the masses. All genres, levels, and styles are welcome, whether that’s strumming a tune on a guitar in Boston Common, organizing a mass of like-instruments for a instrument playground in Christopher Columbus, improvising on a saxophone at the JP Pond, or performing a string quartets at Copley Square. All performances will be free and enjoyed by any passerby or deliberate audience member.

"I invite all residents and visitors of the City of Boston to 'Make Music' on June 21st in celebration of the Summer Solstice. Throughout many of our parks and public spaces, musicians will share their music in free performances for the enjoyment of all."
