“WITH MIME, ACROBATICS AND MAGIC THEY TRICK THEIR AUDIENCE WITH MIND BLOWING STUNTS ON OR OFF STAGE.” —DE VOLKSKRANT
Two men, one tiny room rigged up like a real-life Rube Goldberg cartoon— that’s just about all this remarkable live-action silent film needs to create a hilarious, stylized hurricane of slapstick mayhem. That, and the “mechanical” doll they’ve constructed for cleaning duties. But this doll develops a mind of her own, and soon these wordless actors are lost in a maze of outrageous calamities. With a knowing nod to comedic legend Buster Keaton, creator Jakop Ahlbom along with a supremely gifted cast and the Dutch indie heroes Alamo Race Track have fashioned a classic of delightfully stylized chaos that’s completely unexpected and hysterically surprising.
