In conjunction with Boston's first Illuminus festival on Oct. 25, “Illuminus D” will be a free series of small public events featuring large-scale projections and light installations alongside immersive sound, performance, and multimedia experiences, all seeking to re-imagine Boston at night.
In addition to interactive workshops and tutorials around 3D projection mapping and basic sound/motion-responsive programming, each evening event will feature the following unique opportunities:
Thursday, Oct. 9th - 6:30PM - 10:00PM
Learn from the best with interactive workshops and tutorials on 3D projection mapping, sound and motion-responsive technology. Featuring presentations and discussions by guest technologists CEMI and artists from the upcoming Illuminus Festival, who will be on hand to talk about their work and take questions.
Friday, Oct. 10th - 6:30PM - 10:00PM
"Bring Your Own Beamer." Digital artists are invited to make use of powerful projectors to animate buildings and structures around the Boston Convention Center, and see their work take on a new sense of scale. Featuring live projection and music throughout the night by DJ NOREQUESTS and exclusive performance by BLKBX at 8:30 with visuals by SAMO.
Saturday, Oct. 11th - 4:00PM - 10:00PM
4:00PM - Percussionist MARIA FINKELMEIER will introduce Latin rhythms to kids and families using a specially designed "Playable Pavilion," as Latin dance group MetaMovements teaches salsa dance steps.
5:00 - 7:30 - The party kicks into gear with SALSA IN THE PARK and everyone is invited!
7:30 - Maria Finkelmeier will lead a special musical performance
8:00 - 10:00 We round out the evening with the sounds of DJ OSCAR featuring Electronic, Pop, House and Latin music with dancing and lights!
