Say hello to summer! We’re celebrating the opening of our new show, Jim Hodges: Give More Than You Take. Go on a mini tour of the exhibition, then join artist Melissa Thyden in creating a giant wall of vibrant paper flowers, a project inspired by Hodges’s stunning installation of silk flowers. Eastern Standard star mixologist Naomi Levy has created a signature floral cocktail for the event—pick up some cocktail-making tips in demonstrations led by Levy throughout the evening. Also at First Fridays: a temporary tattoo parlor featuring wearable art designed by Jim Hodges himself!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Mixologist Demos
Naomi Levy—star bartender from the famed Boston brasserie and lounge Eastern Standard and contender in renowned global cocktail competition Bacardi Legacy—presents the art of mixology with three intriguing demonstrations: crafting a tantalizing elderflower-infused cocktail, making lavender-infused simple syrup, and concocting homemade orange and rose blossom waters. Demonstrations at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 pm.
Give and Take
“Don’t hold back so much, because nature doesn’t.” – Jim Hodges
Jim Hodges’s work, steeped with references to the natural world, is distinctive for its physical beauty, open-heartedness, and uncommon delicacy—exemplified by Hodges’s visually stunning silk flower wall installations. Design your own Hodges-inspired paper flowers in the Bank of America Art Lab with the help of artist Melissa Thyden. See the wall expand into a large-scale, vibrant assemblage of colorful designs over the course of the night! Available from 5 to 9 pm.
Photo Booth
Strike a pose in our captivating take on a traditional photo booth—Jim Hodges edition!
