Gingerbreads are traditional holiday sweets in many parts of the world, especially in Northern and Eastern Europe. Early American settlers brought over several varieties, some of which were published in The First American Cookbook by Amelia Simmons in 1796. Historically, gingerbreads were made with honey and a variety of spices, and could range in preparation from a bread, cake or cookie. In this class we will focus on traditional Swiss and German styles, such as Basler Leckerli and Speculaas. Instructor: Marina Brancely
