Fort Hill Jerk Chicken is launching Roxbury’s own music festival in Highland Park!
It is our honor to announce that a Roxbury business owned by Roxbury residents will host the inaugural Highland Park Music Festival.
The Highland Park Music festival is a weekend-long celebration of Black Culture providing a platform for access to multiple genres of music, amazing art, tasty food and community connections happening on Saturday, August 6th and Sunday, August 7th.
Envisioned by Roxbury Residents and owners of Fort Hill Jerk Chicken Christopher and Kai Grant, the Highland Park Music Festival is envisioned to be free and open for all in the New England Area who would like to commemorate the enormous contributions Black Music has made to American culture.
On Saturday, August 6th, the Highland Park Music Festival will kick-off the weekend with an outdoor music fest called Soul in the Square. There will be tributes to Earth Wind and Fire’s Maurice White, Natalie Cole, Phife Dawg of Tribe called Quest, David Bowie, Vanity, Muhammed Ali and Prince.
Soul in the Square is sponsored by Fort Hill Jerk Chicken, INC, Roxbury Sound and the First Church in Roxbury and will feature D.J., Producer and Poet- Rich Medina out of Brooklyn, New York along with Roxbury’s own D.J. Chris Grant.
On Sunday, August 7th, 2016, the Highland Park Music Festival will celebrate Jazz with an outdoor listening party called Jazz at the Fort.
Jazz at the Fort is sponsored by Berklee College of Music, City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department along with Discover Roxbury and has been occurring for almost a decade with wonderful local and national Jazz artists and musicians. https://www.berklee.edu/events/imagine-orchestra
