Join us as artists activate Franklin Park’s Wilderness Picnic Grove with sculptural installation, music, performance, dance, and food. Artwork is in response to the theme “The Density of Home” which was chosen by Barbara Lewis, Director of the Trotter Institute for the Study of Black History and Culture. Featuring MC “Mistah” Matt Parker, A2Z Talent, Carolina Prieto, CagenLuse, Castle of Our Skins, Danza Orgánica, and Odell “O.F.A.T.S.” Ruffin. Creative Director is Carolyn Lewenberg.
The Franklin Park Art Grove engages the public in a cross-cultural space of artists representing Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and Jamaica Plain: the neighborhoods that surround Franklin Park. We create a space where people feel welcome and included, to bridge “community art” and “fine art” through high quality, relevant and participatory opportunities for audiences to connect with the arts, Franklin Park, and other people in a new way. Art Grove experiences offer new frames of reference through which to appreciate our public open space in Franklin Park, developing a new generation of people who care for the park.
