What are our basic feelings? Do we need them all to lead a full life? Is disgust a feeling or body state? Explore a representation of our inner life that highlights the importance of emotions in determining behavior.
Objectives:
This workshop is designed to help participants to be able to:
1. Define affect regulation, as reflected in the film Inside Out
2. Apply affect-sensitive interventions to a clinical setting based on the perspective demonstrated in the film Inside Out
3. Explain the use of joining and the intended resulting effect
Presenter: William Sharp, Psya.D. is a psychoanalyst in private practice in Brookline Village and lecturer at Northeastern University. He is author of the textbook, Talking Helps: An Evidence Based Approach to Psychoanalytic Counseling and loves using media to reflect psychoanalytic ideas for the general public.
