We will be hosting a pop-up art show featuring some of Boston's most exciting up-and-coming black male artists. Co-sponsor Matt Parker and Boston's Black Male Artist Collective will be displaying some of their work, as well as discussing the impact of arts and culture on the community. Parker is a creative writer, community organizer, and poet/spoken word artist. He has been an avid fan of poetry since his childhood in the 1980s, and used it as a life saver during his tumultuous adolescence of the 1990s. Today, Matt enjoys learning and teaching poetry in schools & communities. He will be accompanied by TruSoul Art, Mozaic Pieces, and Trevis "Trevcity" Brooks.
The art show is presented in conjunction with Kevin Powell's Lowell Lecture, Looking for Martin―Dr. King, Community, Civil Rights, Social Media, and the New Activism. The lecture will run from 6 PM - 7 PM. More info about his talk can be found here: http://www.bpl.org/programs/lowell/
Artist talks begin at 7:30 PM.
