Return of the Annual Boston Shakespeare Sonnet-thon
Open to all! No acting experience required, just a love of words & poetry!
The Annual Boston Shakespeare Sonnet-thon, a public event open to all, hosted by Shakespeare Now! from 2003 to 2007, is coming back to the Boston Public Library, Main Branch, in April 2014!
Shakespeare Now! Theatre Company announces the return of the Annual Boston Shakespeare Sonnet-thon. This spectacular event, called "Boston's most important theater event of the year," will be held at the Boston Public Library, Copley Square, on Monday, April 7, 2014, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The Sonnet-thon is a public performance event of all 154 of Shakespeare's Sonnets presented, in chronological order, by interested participants.
Jonathan Epstein, renowned Shakespearean actor, director, teacher, and lecturer, will encore as Sonnet-Master. Jonny's erudite and witty hosting assures an unforgettable evening of Shakespearean fun and celebration.
Our goal is to have each Sonnet read or otherwise performed by a different speaker. Sonnets have been signed (ASL), sung, danced to….the possibilities are limitless! The Sonnet does not need to be memorized.
Past participants have included people from ALL walks of life; from medical personnel to actors, restaurant workers to lawyers. We encourage teachers to participate, and to bring their students to the Sonnet-thon. Group presentations are welcome.
This unique cultural event, held in one of the great public libraries of the USA, is a community celebration of the works of the world's greatest playwright and poet.
