The Beehive invites runners and spectators alike to prepare for the Boston Marathon with a special night out. On Sunday, April 19th, 2015 fuel up on carbs at The Beehive’s “Amy Winehouse Tribute” featuring an all-star house blues band led by 25-year musical veteran keyboardist and producer, Bruce Bears and a special guest appearance by vocalist Ingrid Gerdes.
Well known for her hits like “Rehab,” “Back to Black” and “Valerie,” Amy Winehouse shared her creative approach to music and unique voice with the world. One of the most celebrated women in music, Winehouse won five Grammys during her career along with several other awards and nominations. In celebration of Winehouse’s memory, Bruce Bears Band and Ingrid Gerdes will bring their expertise of funk-jazz to The Beehive stage from 8:00PM to 12:00AM.
Originally from Missouri, Gerdes studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, using the world around her for inspiration for her music. With a gospel meets R&B voice, she has earned comparisons to Irma Thomas and Mavis Staples. Gerdes will join the Bruce Bears Band in honor of Amy Winehouse. Interested in jazz since he was a child, Bruce has been performing since the late ‘70s. The charismatic keyboardist has collaborated on a variety of projects, including Grammy-nominated albums and often tours with several national and international blues greats.
While taking in the show, enjoy Executive Chef Marc Orfaly’s carbo-loaded pasta specials such as the delicious Swordfish Puttanesca with tomato, capers, olives, lemon and linguine, $29, Lamb Shepherd’s Pie with whipped parmesan potatoes and root veggies, $24, and Chicken Piccata with artichokes, broccoli, capers and gnocchi, $25. If pasta isn’t enough, add a side of Cheese & Gravy Frites, $13! Make it a group night! The Beehive is the perfect venue to throw a Marathon Monday dinner party for you and your friends.
Cocktails have plenty of carbs too, so don’t forget to try one of The Beehive’s signature drinks, such as the Queen Bee with vodka, fresh grapefruit, St. Germaine and champagne, Valentino Martini with vodka, blood orange, and passion fruit, or try The Beehive’s own Honey Brew Beer that pairs well with snacks at the bar while they enjoy the show. No matter what you do, don’t miss this chance to celebrate one of America’s beloved artists!
