Since 2003, the “BIG” Golf Tournament has joined Bigs, along with their friends and colleagues, together for a great day of golf to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. The tournament has raised more than half a million dollars, helping the agency to continue to serve more children in Boston’s highest-risk communities and matching them with a caring, reliable mentor.

We are dedicating this year’s tournament in memory of Daquan Burrell, a Little Brother in our program we lost tragically this past January. Daquan was matched to his Big Brother Tim, a member of our golf committee, for nearly 10 years. The loss of Daquan is a sobering reminder that many children we serve face challenging circumstances in their communities, and even more grow up without the influence of a Big. Until every last child in need of a mentor is served, our work is never done.
